Experience Several Captivating Exhibitions

From September 2024 through June 2025, Secondhand Sacred is partnering with the Martin Marty Center (University of Chicago) to curate three exhibitions.

From August 2024 through June 2025, Secondhand Sacred is partnering with the C.H. Booth Public Library (Newtown, Connecticut) to curate four exhibitions.

September 25 – December 15, 2024

The “Wearing and Carrying” exhibit.

This installation will be held at the Martin Marty Center (University of Chicago), curating three exhibitions in total.

The materials for this installation were primarily sourced from thrift stores, antique shops, and estate sales in western Connecticut, but also Evanston, Illinois and eBay.

 Visitors will discover a diverse range of material genres, from pins and buttons to rosaries, pocket shrines, and much more.

August 15 – November 15, 2024

The “(Ir)Reverent Fun” exhibit.

This installation is partnering with the C.H. Booth Public Library (Newtown, Connecticut), curating four exhibitions in total.

This exhibit will present objects organized around play and humor, from Bible board games to gospel magic booklets, and much more.

Visitors can expect to gain an appreciation for the craftsmanship or symbolism behind sacred artifacts, and the opportunity to reflect on the significance of these objects expressed through material culture.
